Chicago, Illinois, USA-Travel Essay Chicago is in Northeast Illinois and on the Southwest shore of Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Chicago River. Chicago was incorporated as a city in 1837. Excellent museums are; Adler Planetarium & Museum, Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago Children’s Museum, Chicago History Museum and the National Vietnam Art Museum. There are excellent Operas; Lyric Opera of Chicago, Central City Opera and Chicago Opera Theater. Visit Broadway in Chicago. Here are some relaxing parks; Promontory Point Park, Seneca Park, Grant Park, Garfield Park and Millennium Park. Be sure to visit Lincoln Park Zoo. Consider a trip to Summer Stage in Chicago. We all love the gardens; Chicago Botanic Garden, the Morton Arboretum, Midway Gardens and Grand Street Gardens. It would be worth your while to visit these statues; Ulysses S. Grant on Horseback, the Statue of Alexander Hamilton and the Michael Jordan Statue. You can fly in and out on Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Chicago Midway International Airport. Important buildings are the Auditorium Building, the John Hancock Center, the Lake Point Tower, Marshall Field Store, Richard Daley Center, Sears Tower and the Reliance Building. Chicago has several excellent colleges including; Columbia College, City Colleges of Chicago, Westwood College, Saint Ignatius College, Lexington College, Maccormac College, Vandercook College of Music and Truman College. Chicago boasts many professional sports teams; the Chicago Bears-NFL, Chicago Bulls-NBA, Chicago Cubs-MLB, Chicago White Sox-MLB and the Chicago Blackhawks-NHL. The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, Boitsov Classic Ballet, Ballet Chicago and the Arcc Ballet will dazzle your date. Congress Plaza Hotel, Amalfi Hotel, the Silversmith Hotel and Hotel Allegro are fine hotels. Attractions are; the Sears Tower Skydeck, the Shedd Aquarium, Shoreline Sightseeing, Wrigley Field, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Horseshoe Hammond Casino and the Chicago Sightseeing Tours.
