Los Angeles, California, USA-Travel Essay

Los Angeles is located on the Pacific Ocean and on the Los Angeles River. Los Angeles includes the San Fernando Valley, the Santa Monica Mts., a section of coastal plain and beaches along Santa Monica Bay.  Los Angeles is one of California’s leading manufacturing and financial centers.

There are many fine museums in Los Angeles.  There are the Hollywood Wax Museum, The Los Angeles County Museum of Arts, Aircraft Museum, Museum of Tolerance, Peterson Automotive Museum and the Chinese American Museum. 

Three Operas are available in the county; the Los Angeles Opera, the Los Angeles Opera League and the Metropolitan Opera.  There are Broadway Shows at the Pantages Theater, the Gibson Amphitheater, the Hollywood Palladium, the Ventura Theater and the Orpheum Theater.  You can relax in LA parks; Plummer Park, Exposition Park, Griffith Park, West Hollywood Park, Echo Park, Pershing Square Park and the Los Angeles Zoo.  Check out the Los Angeles Summer stage.

There are three airports in LA; Los Angeles International Airport, Bob Hope Airport and John Wayne Airport.  Several prominent buildings are the U. S. Bank Tower, Aon Center, The California Plaza and the Gas Company Tower.  The county has several colleges; Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles Community College, Occidental College, Loyola Marymount University  and Westwood College to name a few.  

The county has several professional sports teams.  They are; Los Angeles Dodgers of Baseball, Galaxy of Soccer, Los Angeles Kings of Hockey, Los Angeles Clippers of Basketball, Los Angeles Lakers of Basketball and the Los Angeles Sparks.  There is great ballet such as City of Angels Ballet and the City Ballet of Los Angeles.

Things to do are; California Science Center, Starline Tours, Hollywood Trolley Tour, Universal Studios Hollywood, The Queen Mary and Six Flags Magic Mountain.
