Tampa Bay, Florida Looking for a great vacation? Want to relax on a beach in the sun and near the ocean? Try the Tampa Bay Area!! I recently took a trip to visit the Tampa Bay area and found the beaches to be wonderful! I visited Madeira Beach where I found a friendly picnic area close to downtown St. Petersburg. There were many accommodations that were close by. The sand was powdery and the sunsets spectacular! At Fort De Soto Park I found a virtual playground! This park is built around an historical fort. It is a chain of five interconnected islands, or keys, providing 1,136 acres of park land and beaches. There were many picnic areas to use for day trips, a camping area with 241 sites, a boat ramp, a self guided kayak or canoe trail with rentals, a dog park where your dog can play run and swim leash free, a youth camp, a reconstructed army building museum, a 1000 foot Gulf Pier facility for fishing, nature trails for bird lovers and miles and miles of beaches to swim and play in! This was a great place for families. The entire park was clean and had a visitor center for information and accommodations. If I were visiting the area with a family and wanted to camp to keep the cost down, this would be a place I would choose to stay. My final beach was St. Pete Beach. This had many hotels to choose from. I was particularly impressed with the Don CeSar a grand resort hotel. This elaborate pink structure can be seen from many areas and was an impressive site. The beach stretched as far as I could see. I even walked for over an hour and still had more beach to cover. There were many unique dining and libation establishments to enjoy. This was a particularly good beach for a family or for older beach goers. It also seemed like a great area for nighttime entertainment. This area reminded me of a Caribbean Resort! Why vacation on an island when you can have the beach life in the safety of the United States. Tampa Bay isn’t just a place to go when you want to visit the famous Bush Gardens! It has much more to offer! Mary Snowman
