I Wait
Poem by Sherry Davison

A burning thirst within
Consuming everything
I wait for Him to come
I wait upon my King

I have heard Him speak
His voice is the wind
I have felt His touch
The burning fire within

I wait to hear your voice
The words that you speak
I wait to feel your touch
Your kiss upon my cheek

My soul thirsts for you
The One that I love so
There is none like you
To whom shall I go

My heart how it leaps
Just to say your name
Your love is like a fire
My soul cannot contain

Cover me with mercy
Sustain me with grace
Consume me with Love
Let our hearts embrace

The fire of this love
Consumes everything
I wait for him to come
I wait upon my King.

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you,
my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1

I spread out my hands to you; my soul thirsts for you like a parched land.
Psalm 143:6

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
Psalm 42:2
