“Invitation to the
Thirsty”
Once her soul was thirsting
Surely soon she was to die
Then seemingly from nowhere
His presence caught her eye
The words He spoke to her
Like cold water from a brook
So refreshing to her soul
And that is all it took
Before she really knew Him
Her heart began to bow
Who is this man with words
That have this kind of power
At first she was so cautious
To guard her heart from Him
So many times before
So many other men
Yet deep inside she knew
She longed to hear more
Everytime He spoke
Her feet left the floor
How does He do that
She wondered in her mind
Thinking He didn't hear her
And everything was fine
Yet somehow He knew
Her thoughts before she spoke
That she was sad and lonely
And her heart already broke
He asked her for water
She thought how absurd
That he ask for water
And asked it of her
What did He want
Why was He there
Where did He come from
This stranger unaware
He was sent to save her
Though she did not know
Until He revealed Himself
And then she did go
And said to all the people
Come and see a man
He knows all about me
She shouted as she ran
The words that He spoke
Like water from a well
Healed her broken heart
And saved her soul from hell
My soul thirsteth for God, for
the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Psalm 42:2
My soul longeth, yea, even
fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh
crieth out for the living God.
Psalm 84:2
But whosoever drinketh of the
water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water
that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing
up into everlasting life.
John 4:14
