Through His Eyes
Poem by Cory Vieira

As he looks idly beyond this gray day,

He sees his future out of his window

Sees the girl to which ‘I do’ he will say,

The house where they’ll live and places they’ll go.

In these eyes there is only love of the world,

The friends he’s known and those he’s left behind,

For his strong dad, and mom with hair curled

And the girl that was such a lucky find.

In these eyes he can see his very first child,

Crawling on the floor with eyes never mad,

Never angry or sad, just glad and mild.

This child, who will grow to be like his dad.

In the eyes of this young man you can see,

What he is and what he will very soon be.
