SHATTERED DREAMS
she watched him walk on past,
holding her breath as he did,
shed seen him everyday
since she was a little kid
at first it meant nothing
they were much too young
but now they where both adults
and something needed to be done
tomorrow she told herself
like all the days gone past
then she'll do something about it
just like the days that were last
then tomorrow came,
and she took a great deep breath
slowly walked up to him and said
there's something i must confess
he looked at her smiling
waiting for her to speak
and as she continued
her knees began to feel weak
she told him how she liked him
and wanted to speak to him before
and asked him to a date soon
hoping he'd say 'sure'
but his gentle eyes flickered
and he innocently spoke
i would love to get to know you
but on a different note
i am getting married
this weekend that is to come
im sorry but you;ve missed your chance
and with that he was gone
