Lonesome Lullaby
By Jenny Doll Age 16
As I lay silent by
your lonesome side,
I do not dare to
wake the one I love
I kneel by your
bed I know I have lied
I ask Him for a
blessing from above
To save you from
this lonely world I live
If only I could
stay here but a while,
There is a way so
take this thing I give
And hold it dear
that I might see you smile
Which smile so
radiant, soft, and pure I long
For you and only
you this gift is giv’n
So keep it safe
and I’ll sing you a song
A song of renewal
and I’ll be forgiv’n
And return to thee
with no debts to pay
Back to you bed
side where you gently lay
