The Old Torn-Up Bible

Once I found an old torn-up Bible,
It was lying behind an old rugged shed.
I reached down and picked up the withered pages,
And inside I found a tear-stained note that read—

“To my boy I give this old, old Bible.

To cherish and follow in it’s way.
It’s from your Mother who loves you so dearly,
Please accept it son, for I’m leaving you today”

“Your father, well he left us years ago son,
But someday I know you’ll understand.
Just keep this old Bible by you always,
And I know someday you’ll be a fine young man.”

All my life these words have lingered with me,
And the Bible, I have kept and I’ve read.
Yes Mother, I found your old torn-up Bible,
On your grave behind that old rugged shed.

Simple Pleasures
By Margaret Scholebo
momy8us@yahoo.com

A long hot bubble bath,
Listening to music loudly.
Eating a hot fudge sundae,
Showing it proudly!
Watching the surprised looks,
Of the kids on Christmas Day.
For something they've longed for,
A year long on which to play.
Seeing your child's eyes open,
After a critical surgery day.
Receiving a college degree at 53,
On a dream you've had since age 3.
Watching the birth of a longed for baby,
Especially against all odds,
The doctor wouldn't even say maybe.
The first time the tooth fairy,
Makes a visit.
Until your Guardian Angel comes,
Down to take you with it!

For God So Loved Me
He created the sun, the moon, and the stars.
The sun to warm those cold weary days.
The moon to pierce the everlasting darkness.
The stars to give hope when their is none left.
For God So Loved Me
He created the fire, the wind, And the water.
The Fire to keep me warm when the world is cold.
The wind to cool the burn of pain and life.
The water to quench the thirst for life.
For God So Loved Me
He created the most precious gift of all.
YOU
