Book Excerpts | "A Time To Howl"
I'll not forget one Halloween,
So many years ago,
When I went out to trick or treat,
In heavy falling snow.
When I was dressed up as a ghost,
With white sheet on my head,
I might have been much better off,
If I'd stayed home in bed.
The way the snow was coming down,
I knew I blended well,
When I sneaked into a neighbors yard,
And gave an awful yell.
Then someone opened up the door,
To offer me a treat,
But I was standing back a ways,
Concealed in my sheet.
They closed the door and went away,
Not seeing I was there.
Then I heard some small kids coming,
And planned that I would scare.
I backed into some bushes,
My feet slipped and I fell.
Oh I sure scared those small kids,
With a real mighty yell.
For I wailed like a Demon,
No Werewolf could quite match,
The howl of pain and agony,
Coming from that cactus patch.
