Book Excerpts | Beyond The Sand Dunes Poem by David Cannon Storm-tossed sand dunes steeply climb,
Languish footprints scaling tread,
Crystal skies stir raucous seagulls,
Discordant songs in summers sky,
On the dune top oceans boundless,
Golden sands paint rocky shores,
Ocean waves foam onto sand,
Strewn with knots of seaweed,
Sands warmed by searing sun,
Devour my naked feet,
Salt laden air fills my lungs,
As I stroll towards the waters,
Tied laces hang my shoes,
Slung over sun burnt shoulder,
Bathers lie relaxed face down,
Energizing in radiant sun,
Bikini's hinder intimate parts,
Young eyes cannot help but notice,
Stare back towards the ocean,
To shroud my blushing face,
Dampened sand I near the waves,
That roll upon the shores,
Sunken feet indent the sand,
As waters drift around them,
Looking out towards the sea,
That dances glistening sunlight,
I feel my soul surge up to skies,
As I glow in golden sun.
