Two Sailors

Poem by Joseph Simmons

We were born in a burst of fire,
picked our lives upon the run,
all our lifetimes reaching higher
until we fell back to the sun.
As sailors crawling to the ocean,
back to wreck and restless sea,
we need shelter in explosions
in our lives to keep us free.
We spin spirals of creation,
making worlds to call our own,
then pause in hesitation,
drifting back to our first home.

At night I saw you from the river,
standing silent on the shore,
looking out across the water
as I did once before.
Moonbeams rippled off your hairwave
and scattered to the sea,
and in the silence of my waiting
I dreamed you back to me.
You were the silence of the meadows
sleeping under midnight stars,
I the stranger in the shadows
wandering from afar.
As I drifted on the river,
gliding to the sea,
I threw myself across the water
and drew you here to me.

An Angel's Pledge

Poem by Charmaine deSouza

Lord, you've given me a pair of wings,
And a harp to hold in my hands,
It doesn't matter if i can't use my feet,
Because now there's no need to stand.

Lord, now that I can fly,
There's no need to set my hopes up high.
I'll play my harp and I will sing,
About life and every special thing.

I'll sit up on the brightest star,
And slide down on a moonbeam,
I'll learn about thoughts and wishes,
And i'll teach the people how to dream.

As i play upon my harp,
I'll put a smile on every face,
i'll spread joy and happiness
To each and every place!
