AGONY OF INACTION

Until the suffering of mankind loses its place in the world,
may we who have failed to do what we must be held accountable
may we beat our breasts in acceptance of our guilt, our selfishness
may our hearts ache with the pain and sorrow of those we have ignored
may our minds be tormented with the images of their grief stricken
faces
may their screams of anguish pierce our ears
may the tears that flow from our eyes be theirs
may we have nothing but contempt for ourselves
may our punishment be severe
may we find no rest in this life or the next
until we have done what we must
to restore hope, joy, peace
the right of every man.
